Mistletone, Triple R, and Beat present the first Australian tour by Brooklyn-based Sharon Van Etten. Singer, songwriter, collaborator and incredibly captivating performer, the irrepressible Sharon Van Etten is nothing short of indie rock royalty. Backed by her stunning three piece band, Sharon will showcase her bittersweet songs with all their raw intimacy and dramatic sweep at The Corner on Sunday 30 December with special guest Grand Salvo. It’s with great love that we announce Sharon Van Etten + her awesome band will play Falls Music and Arts Festival. The Lorne festival has completely now sold out, tickets for Marion Bay on sale from The Falls website. With Beach House already announced for The Falls lineup, it’ll be a New Year to remember for us Mistletonians.

Singer, songwriter, collaborator and incredibly captivating performer, the irrepressible Sharon Van Etten is nothing short of indie rock royalty. Her debut album Because I Was In Love came in 2009, accompanied by the sound of critics fawning the world over. Follow up Epic (2010) and this year’s Tramp (released locally through Inertia Music) have only solidified this reputation.

Produced by The National’s Aaron Dessner, Tramp features guest appearances by Zach Condon (aka Beirut), Bryce Dessner (also of The National) and Jenn Wasner of Wye Oak, proving that the best and brightest of American indie rock are lining up to get their prints on a Sharon Van Etten record. Her live show is just as inclusive – so make sure you’re there with us this summer as she brings her magic to our shores.

We’re gonna celebrate Mistletone’s 6th birthday and the end of a bumper year with a Manatee Matinee Xmas party at Northcote Social Club (Melbourne) on Sunday, December 23. A matinee being a musical or dramatic performance, social or public event held in the daytime and especially the afternoon; a manatee being the most ridiculously cute mammal known to creation.

This merry occasion doubles as the launch of Ross McLennan‘s new single, Clarity b/w Dig This! — a captivating first taste of Ross’s eagerly awaited third solo album The Night’s Deeds Are Vapour, set for release in February. A much revered songwriter, Ross McLennan creates intriguing daydream sequences in his music, whilst engaging deeply with the most vexed and heartbreaking issues of our time. Accompanied by his ensemble of strings, woodwind and a choir, Ross’s rare live performances are richly orchestrated, lush, complex and simply breathtaking.

On a par for enthralling audiences are The Orbweavers, who will perform their enchanting songs  accompanied by Marita Dyson’s equally entertaining and educational anecdotes from Melbourne’s rich forgotten urban history. The Orbweavers have just unveiled a beautiful new single The Hook, which is available on iTunes as a digital single b/w Merri Christmas – Allocasuarina Remix.

Opening the matinee is Wintercoats, a/k/a one man chamber pop orchestra James Wallace, who creates an entire universe to get lost in with his swoon-worthy violin/voice/loop pedal patterns. James has had a big year, touring the UK and Europe with The Townhouses, performing at Torstrassen Festival (Berlin) & Laboratorium festival (Heidelberg, Germany) playing a Cascine showcase for The 405 in London, and most recently being handpicked by Beach House as the sole support for their upcoming theatre shows in January.

Mistletone DJs will fill the intervals with musical oddities from the Miles Family Vaults, and most excitingly, every single punter will receive a handmade memento of the occasion featuring all-new tunes by Ross McLennan, The Orbweavers, Wintercoats and Montero; all designed to evoke squeals of joy worthy of the most jolly manatee. Doors open 2pm and tickets are on sale now; just remember, if you miss this, “dugong regret it”!

Mistletone proudly presents Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti at Adelaide Festival with very special guest Geneva Jacuzzi.

LA underground cult figure turned international pop star, Ariel Pink’s sound is as sublime as it is surreal, loaded with hazy nostalgia and a fiercely experimental pop palette. Establishing himself as one of the most prolific songwriters and unique talents of his generation, Ariel Pink’s influence on today’s bands and genres has been profound.

LA synth-pop sorceress Geneva Jacuzzi (born Geneva Garvin) is a musician and visual artist known for her unique style of synth driven bedroom pop recordings, theatrical stage personas and retro style video art. Her lyrics describe blood being thrown onto fire, clown-like machines in search of sadness, and the raging monologues of future/past elemental beings. Her live shows are unlike anything you will ever experience, referencing commedia dell’arte, Cocteau, Artaud, Schlemmer, dada, kabuki, French surrealism and Italian futurism.

Every Geneva Jacuzzi song is a starkly expressionistic mini-drama that with plots allowing her to find a new way into those places between art, music and theatre. Jacuzzi is a long-time collaborator with Ariel Pink — the most talked about act at Laneway 2011, the author of Pitchfork’s #1 jam last year (Round and Round), and one of the most influential artists of our time.
