Kurt Vile & The Violators @ Meredith Music Festival (VIC)

December 9, 2011
7:00 pm

Mistletone is super excited to present Kurt Vile & The Violators at the 21st Meredith Music Festival. Stay tuned for sideshow announcements!

Enter The Ballot for Meredith tickets here before 10pm Tuesday 23rd August. Results out a week later.

Walk into any record store worth its vault in the world right now and chances are they’ll recommend Kurt Vile. A true artist. Been making records and small release albums and 12”s for years. Sounds like… Neil Young backed by Television? Like a Crazy Horse album without hits but every track a killer? Almost like a Frankenstein Meredith artist? He looks like half the crowd from Meredith 1995 .

It’s tender and evocative, elusive but companionable, tough in the gut and the arm but swollen in the chest and giddy in the head. There are actually TWO sunsets at Meredith and this dude’s gonna play the Friday night one. First trip to Oz. Kurt. See.

How To Dress Well + Oscar & Martin + Wintercoats @ Phoenix (MELBOURNE) * SELLING FAST!

December 3, 2011
8:00 pm

Mistletone proudly presents How To Dress Well, aka Brooklyn-via-Cologne’s Tom Krell, on his first ever Australian tour. How To Dress Well’s unique brand of reverb-soaked, ethereal, heart-on-sleeve glo-fi comes to Phoenix Public House on Saturday 3rd December, with special guests Oscar & Martin and Wintercoats. Tickets on sale now from Moshtix.

Garnering inspiration from a broad range of artistic, cinematic, philosophical, and musical sources, How To Dress Well is provocative and compelling music. Tom Krell’s disarmingly beautiful vocal lines are as angelic as they are harrowing; his voice seems to swell up out of nowhere, the multiple tracks colliding with each other to form stirring, otherworldly harmonies, overtones, and distortions. Krell’s compositions are abstract and yet unmistakably pop and r&b; an exploration of voice and sound that transgresses typical expectations about song structure to evoke enthralling images of what is left of love after it is broken, and how to find in ourselves those places and moments where love remains.

How To Dress Well has appeared at the Sonar Festival, OFF Festival, Rokslide Festival, London’s XOYO, and completed sold out tours of Europe & North America and headline shows around the world. How To Dress Well is currently signed to Tri-Angle records, recently named the #1 indie label of the year by the American Billboard. Last year’s record Love Remains by How To Dress Well is a shimmering diamond of a release, fusing almost apathetic ambience with emotional intensity and fiercely intelligent production. It’s an understated record that draws on unexpected influences and is somehow simultaneously brutally honest and deliberately opaque. In a live setting, How To Dress Well brings this intensity and emotional ambiguity to the foreground for what is sure to be a spellbinding show.

Daedelus + Collarbones + Galapagoose + DJ Mack Daddy Albino Dwarf @ RAOBGAB (MELBOURNE)

November 27, 2011
8:00 pm
Mistletone proudly presents Los Angeles beatmaker, producer, instrumentalist and Ninja Tune artist Daedelus, bringing his latest creations to Australia this November.

The genre-defying sounds of Daedelus reflect Alfred Darlington’s fascination with the philosophies of dandyism and art for art’s sake. His image and his music are coloured by this philosophy, which translates into a captivating and dazzling live show that will fly audiences enticingly close to the sun.

Daedelus will be joined by intercity wunderkinds Collarbones and fellow Monome adventurer Galapagoose, whom Daedelus recently signed to his Magical Properties label, plus goodtime jams from DJ Mack Daddy Albino Dwarf.

Sunday, November 27 @ RAOBGAB: Daedelus with special guests Collarbones and Galapagoose + DJ Mack Daddy Albino Dwarf. Tickets on sale now from Moshtix.
