panel

November has been a prolific month for Mistletone releases, most recently the career-defining Bad Vibrations by Panel of Judges. Panel of Judges are launching their li’l masterpiece of an album in Melbourne this Saturday night (December 6) at the Curtin Bandroom, (29 Lygon St, Carlton) with excellent supports St Helens and The Twerps, and in Sydney on Friday January 16 at the Hopetoun Hotel.

beaches

Also new to the Mistletone catalogue is the much-acclaimed debut by Beaches, last week’s 3RRR Album of the Week, described in Three Thousand as “a powerful, sex-driven record smacking of Stooges greatness”. Make sure you get down to Meredith early on Friday night to catch Beaches who are in blistering form after their sold out launch at Northcote Social Club last night. Sydneysiders can catch Beaches at their album launch next Thursday December 4 at the Hopetoun with Circle Pit and The Garbage and the Flowers.

pablo

Mistletone is thrilled to announce the return of Barcelona’s foremost exponent of ecstatic tropical rave, El Guincho. Having wowed Australian audiences with his deliriously fun and joyful live performances with Architecture in Helsinki last May, this time Pablo Díaz-Reixa will be bringing percussionist Aleix Clavera to make El Guincho live show twice as hectic! It will be an intoxicating, bacchanalian, tropicalia party you will never want to end!

coconot

Speaking of El Guincho, Mistletone has just released the tropicalia-delic new album by Coconot, which is Pablo from El Guincho’s Barcelona-based band. Cosa Astral by Coconot is an infectious, polyrhythmic, Spanish language adventure; the soundtrack to a heady, sunshiney summer. If you like El Guincho you will love Coconot!

barrage

Also new on Mistletone is Delays by Melbourne’s one of a kind synth wizard, Mark Barrage. Delays has won many four star reviews – “raw, bedroom-produced brilliance”, to quote Music Australia Guide – and radio playlist love around the country. You can purchase Delays, and indeed any CD from the Mistletone catalogue, for just 20 bucks including postage from our online store.

bh

We also have some tasty vinyl morsels in store, including the first ever 7″ single by Beach House, the beautiful new song Used To Be (as heard on their Australian tour and captured in the wonderful Shoot The Player video filmed at Tamarama Beach in Sydney), and the limited edition grey vinyl version of the brilliant debut by High Places, (which comes in a deluxe old-style tip-on gatefold jacket with gorgeous extra artwork including hand-illustrated lyrics sheet, and bonus MP3 downloads for the whole album). Beaches and Panel of Judges vinyl will be here soon! Go to the Mistletone online store for all your Xmas pressie needs.

dent

Looking ahead, early 2009 Mistletone releases will include The Good Feeling Music of Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele, the incredibly impressive debut full length by Dent May from Oxford, Mississippi (recently discovered by Animal Collective and signed to their Paw Tracks label); and Bromst, the incredibly epic new album by Dan Deacon, which we guarantee will melt your mind!

take good care & see you round the traps!
